Broadband radio-receiver from World War II

This radio-receiver was used during and after the World War II to compare the time signals transmitted from the foreign astronomical centres and those of the clocks at the Geophysical Institute.

It is not known when this receiver was set to operation. It was used for determining time-corrections of the clocks until the year 1922. Although without the antenna this radio-receiver is still able, in favourable conditions, to receive time signals from the transmitter RWM in Moscow.

 

The last time correction was obtained on February 4, 1992. Up to the end of the homeland war (1991-1995) this long-wave radio-receiver, with all the necessary equipment, was able to transmit time-signals within hours, if needed.
